Why is this so important?

We want you to have the best experience. If during the massage you want anything changed: more or less pressure, specific areas worked upon or if you are too hot or cold … Please let your therapist know at the time.

Your therapist won’t be upset by you asking for something that will make you more comfortable. Your therapist wants this to be the best experience for you to relax and enjoy, or get the most from the session if it is remedial session

Also, what you require from each session may change, each session may be different to another. If you had a full body massage last time you had a session, but this time you only want your back/neck/shoulders of just your legs worked on, just let your therapist know.

You will enjoy your sessions so much more as we tailor them to suit your requirements!

What should I expect on my first visit?

If you haven’t filled in an online Medical history form then the therapist will require you to fill in one on arrival.

The therapist will begin by asking you general questions to establish treatment you would like , if there are any conditions needing to be addressed #that might affect the massage you are looking to receive.  In the case of remedial & preventative treatments, your  therapist may perform certain assessments  to evaluate your condition and to see if you have any injuries or complaints.

It is important to list all health concerns and medications so the therapist can adapt the session to your specific needs without doing any harm. It is also important to list any allergies so the therapist is aware if he/she needs to use a different oil or lotion during the session.

Do I need to undress?

You should undress to the level you are comfortable. For full body oil massage, most get completely undressed  to their underwear.

Your massage therapist should give you privacy to undress and get comfortable on the table.

If you prefer to stay fully clothed, then discuss with your therapist what treatments there are that are performed clothed.

Client modesty is protected at all time, this is done by positioning the towels to cover the client , this is called draping. The therapist will only uncover the area they are working on.

Can I talk during the massage?

You are encouraged free to express any discomfort when undergoing a massage.

However, we encourage avoiding too much chatting with your massage therapist during your session, as this can lead to increased muscular tension and limit the effectiveness of your massage experience.

The amount of communication you should engage in during your massage depends on your goals for the session. If you want a relaxing massage, talk as little as necessary and let your mind and body enter a meditative state. You can even practice mindful breathing, which lowers muscular tension and increases the benefits of your massage.

On the other hand, if you’ve asked your massage therapist to use increased pressure and deep-tissue techniques to help you recover from an injury, communication is key. Be sure to give your practitioner regular feedback on the amount of pressure you need and which specific areas feel painful or tight.
